Tunisian president Beji Caid Essebsi arrived Tuesday in Kuwait City at the beginning of a three-day visit that will also take him to Bahrain.
The visit aims to foster bilateral relations with Arab states and Gulf countries in particular, said Tunisia’s presidential spokesman Moez Sinaoui.
“It is essentially a political visit that mirrors Tunisia’s priorities at the levels of security, economy, employment and regional development,” he added.

President Caid is accompanied on the visit by the ministers of foreign affairs, agriculture, water resources and fisheries.
During the two-day visit, the two countries will discuss ways to foster bilateral relations.
Relations between Tunisia and Kuwait in the economic and educational domain date back to the 1970’s.
Sources say president Caid will use this visit to convince Kuwait about Tunisia’s readiness to welcome investments which could bring back the booming economic cooperation that was experienced in the 1980’s.
As at March 2015, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development had provided about 33 loans to Tunisia worth USD 547.75 million.
